How education advisers are paid

Education advisers use several different payment models. Each model has different implications for whose interests the adviser is serving. Vianorr Education requires every adviser to disclose their model before a student contacts them.

Student-paid (flat fee)Student-paid

You pay the adviser directly. The amount is fixed and disclosed before you engage. The adviser receives no payment from schools.

Advantages
  • No conflict of interest with school selection
  • Clear scope of service
Considerations
  • Upfront cost to student
School commissionSchool commission

The adviser receives a commission from the school when you enrol. The student pays nothing directly. The adviser's income depends on your school choice.

Advantages
  • No direct cost to student
Considerations
  • Adviser's income depends on where you enrol — potential conflict of interest
  • Commission rates vary by school and program
HybridHybrid

The adviser charges a reduced student fee plus receives a commission from schools. Both components are disclosed.

Advantages
  • Lower student fee than pure student-paid
  • Partial independent incentive
Considerations
  • Partial school commission conflict still exists
Our position on compensation: All three models are legal. Vianorr Education lists advisers using all three. We do not take a position on which model is best — that depends on your situation. What we require is full, upfront disclosure so you can decide. Placement in search results on this platform is not influenced by which model an adviser uses. How screening works →
