How we use rankings and data

Which ranking editions we display, how we label them, and why we treat rankings as one input rather than a single truth.

A note on data integrity. A ranking that was accurate when we wrote it can become misleading without an edition label. Every figure on this site carries its source, edition, and effective date. Where we know a figure requires verification against a newer source, it is flagged — not silently left outdated. If you find an error, use our corrections form. We update confirmed errors within 48 hours.
