What each screening check involves →

Know your rights

→

You should never be pressured to enrol at a specific school

A commissioned agent may recommend schools they partner with. An independent adviser should not. If you feel pushed toward a specific institution, you can ask whether the adviser receives a commission.

→

No adviser can guarantee admission

Admission decisions are made by the institution. Any adviser who guarantees admission or promises a specific outcome is misrepresenting their services.

→

Immigration advice must come from an authorized Canadian immigration representative

Eligible authorized representatives include immigration or citizenship consultants (RCICs), lawyers, qualifying paralegals, and Québec notaries in good standing. Verify consultants through the CICC Public Register at college-ic.ca. Lawyers and paralegals should be verified through their provincial law society.
